As Good As Dead: Book Review

The third and final book in the series by Holly Jackson, 'As Good as Dead', is pretty much the best. Unlike the other two books, it does not feature an investigation, but now 18 year old Pip is the victim. Pip discovers she has a stalker who gives her prank calls, leaves messages for her, and draws headless chalk figures on her driveway. Pip races against time to find her stalker, landing her in events of danger, bringing forth paralyzing discoveries and finally, true justice, even though it leaves a sea of turmoil in its wake.

The storyline is thrillingly plotted, with so many emotions, so many mysteries, so many twists that will have you gripping the edge of your seat and a completely changed Pip, who is travelling downwards in a spiral of emotions after her traumatic experience. There are amazing revelations, once again exploring the different faces a single person can have, concluding that those who were initially villains might not be the true evil.

In this book, Pip finally brings true justice outside the courtroom, though, technically, it turns her into a criminal too. After a great and terrible adventure, Pip rights the wrong but has to distance herself from her loved ones so that only she has to bear the brunt of the consequences. Holly Jackson has not given her a fake happy ending but a tiny glimmer of hope is there in the very last, ending it perfectly. All the emotions are vividly portrayed in this book, because now its not up to Pip to decipher the mindset of the victim and what might be happening to them, as she herself is the victim.

As Good As Dead is a must read for all crime thriller lovers, but to get there, you got to first read the prequels, so head back, read them and their reviews and explore the final, utterly bombastic book. The right words to describe this book can only be found within the book itself.

AGGGTM series has now been filmed as a Netflix show and will soon be released. Let's see whether it matches up to the amazing effect of the books!!
